FOR ANYONE LOOKING FOR A BETTER WAY TO BALANCE EFFORT AND EASE
Tap into the power of less to achieve more without stress and burnout
I’m not talking about working smart or senselessly cutting down your work. Neither is it about taking a coffee break between tasks. I am talking about WU WEI, the age-old strategy to achieve greatness in life.
Wu Wei Members
Hi, Tekson Teo here. I help people cultivate the practice of wu wei.
Wu wei is a very profound practice also translated as not doing and several other ways. It subtly balances ease and effort to help you achieve your goals without stress or compromising your purpose.
It’s what you’ll learn in the Wu Wei Members program, where you’ll discover the mystery of the practice that has enthralled the world for centuries.
What is wu wei and why is it powerful?
There is a natural flow in everything we do. If you can go with it, you leverage the power of nature to get things done. It is like rowing a boat downstream and cutting wood with the grain, you don’t work any harder, but you achieve better results.
Unfortunately, because of ego and desires, it’s hard to be natural, and flow is not a matter of course. You now have it, and now you don’t. Ironically, it often eludes you when you need it most. When you’re under duress, in a heated argument, or groping your way in unfamiliar terrain, the more you want to be natural, the less natural you can be.
Wu wei is an art that optimizes energy by balancing effort and ease. If you can make it a way of life, no matter how chaotic or messy a situation is, its calmness puts you in a better position to cope.
Getting the full mileage of your tiny bit of energy
I’ve been fascinated by wu wei, and have, for decades, made its scriptures, including books like the Tao Te Ching and I Ching, my close companions. I’ve also published a few books on the subject. But somehow, I found things were missing.
The Breakthrough
The breakthrough came when I reunited with my Tai Chi Master and saw him spar in the ring. It was a sight to behold. His opponents were no match for him. He could toss them around with fantastic ease, despite his advantages in age and size.
I knew I had found the answer.
Tai chi is, in every aspect, an exercise of wu wei. It is soft and yielding but extremely powerful. It showcases how you can exponentially expand your energy. When I applied the principle to my work, I began to connect the dots.
THE PRACTICE NOW MAKES EVEN MORE SENSE when I relate it to the thousands of people I have worked with over the years as a management consultant. Now wu wei is no longer just a concept. It has come alive and worked like charms.
The 5-Step Learning Cycle
It has led me to develop the five-step learning cycle to help you practice the art and make it a way of life.
Profound philosophy that propels the practice
You’ll learn the philosophy that propels it. The best guide to the practice is the Tao Te Ching, a book of wisdom written by the Chinese sage Lao Tzu 2,500 years ago. We will dive deep into it along the way.
Wu wei is an art that optimizes energy by balancing effort and ease. If you can make it a way of life, no matter how chaotic or messy a situation is, its calmness puts you in a better position to cope.
You let go of whatever prevents your innate nature’s simplicity from coming forward and stay calm and easy in the face of whatever challenges. It is, however, tough to do that. It involves a different approach to learning because letting your entrenched behavior go can be far more difficult than learning something new.
To make wu wei a way of life can, therefore, be quite a challenge for many people. So if you find it difficult, don’t dismay. It is very typical. It takes time for you to make it a habit. You can learn a day to learn the concept but years or a lifetime to master it.
I bear the peculiarity in mind with developing the program.
